Lot 88 Remington Over/Under Type 1 Model No. 2 Double Deringer

Remington Over/Under Type 1 Model No. 2 Double Deringer, #679, .41 RF short cal., 3'' round superposed barrels with extractor, nickel finish with blued small parts, checkered two-piece hard rubber black grips, integral blade front sight, and ''U''-notched rear sight. Top of the barrel is marked in two-lines ''E. REMINGTON & SONS ILION, N.Y./ELLIOTS PATENT DEC. 12TH 1865''. Matching numbers on left side of the frame and underside of the barrel. Approx. 14,000 Mfg'd circa 1868. Derringer is in fine condition, retaining approx. 95% of its bright nickel finish, with several tiny impressions to the left side; otherwise, showing moderate age and handling marks. Bluing is strong, with spots of patina to right side of the hammer. Grips are near excellent, showing light handling wear. Action is crisp. Bores are bright with very good rifling. Est.: $600-$800.
